Clyde V Hamilton Accies Preview

Clyde received a boost today when Billy Reid reported no fresh injury worries for this Saturday’s clash with Hamilton. Gary Arbuckle is likely to be the only absentee through injury though Eddie Malone is suspended.

Saturday’s clash is eagerly awaited as this will be the first return visit of so many former Clyde players and officials yet it is often overlooked that Clyde manager Billy Reid also has an affinity with Hamilton. “I had some special times at Douglas Park and greatly enjoyed my spell there but tomorrow I’ll be concentrating all my efforts on getting three points for the Bully Wee just as I’m sure all the ex Clyde boys will be concentrating on getting maximum points for the Accies”.

The last match was a closely contested affair with only an Ian Harty header making the difference between the sides. Accies were boosted last week with a late but deserved victory against Queen of the South at New Douglas Park while Clyde will be looking to bounce back after their away defeat to Airdrie United. Accies are likely to stick closely to the team that featured in their home win though they have got some concerns over a few unnamed players.

Possibly the biggest concern is the weather. Midweek attendances for rearranged games rarely match weekend crowds. So, with the predicted minimum overnight temperature being -4, Clyde are making every effort to ensure the game goes ahead with covers being laid on the pitch this afternoon.

Elsewhere in the division, the top match is St Johnstone’s trip to Falkirk. The current league leaders will face Partick on Tuesday night so it is an important few days for Yogi’s Bairns. It may be early yet but another defeat for St Johnstone will jeopardise their promotion hopes.

Partick Thistle travel to Dumfries in a must win game for the Jags. Meanwhile Airdrie United will be hoping to build on their victory last week but will find it tough at Ross County. Alex Smith’s men will be trying to get maximum points in their first match of their Dingwall double as County take on Raith during the week. The Kirkcaldy club have a tough task before their travel on Tuesday as on Saturday they try and overcome St Mirren at Love Street.
