Clyde 1 V 2 Forfar Athletic
Clyde are out of this season’s Bell’s Cup, beaten 2-1 by Second Division Forfar Athletic in tonight’s quarter final at Broadwood.
Clyde deservedly went ahead after nine minutes thanks to an Ian Harty strike but Forfar gradually got on top and were well worth their thirty-fourth minute equaliser from Paul Tosh, as Clyde repeatedly gave away possession.
In the fifty-sixth minute Forfar lost ‘keeper Michael Brown with a shoulder injury when he fell awkwardly following a clash with Aron Wilford and Clyde nearly took advantage of substitute goalkeeper Neal Ferrie’s settling in period when Ian Harty struck a post.
With eighteen minutes left of the second half, Bryn Halliwell brilliantly saved a penalty after a challenge in the box earned Simon Mensing a second bookable offence. From the resultant corner, Forfar scored against the, by then, ten-man Clyde when David McClune drove the ball through a crowded goalmouth from eighteen yards into the net.
During the last quarter of an hour, the visitors continued to look the more likely to score but the game finished 2-1, thus ending Clyde’s involvement in the Bell’s Cup for another year.
