Eric Black
The club were saddened to learn this week that Eric Montgomery Black – Chairman of “Clan Portsmouth” Clyde supporters club – died age 74 on 13th January 2004.
Eric was a fanatical supporter of Clyde since he could walk, and was a very well known figure at the club.
In his early years Eric used to collect empty bottles for their refund to enable him to go and watch Clyde play. His early teens saw him at Clyde as a ballboy, and after his move to Portsmouth he made many a trip back to see his beloved team play. He stayed loyal to The Bully Wee throughout his life, even when close friends of his went off to support bigger named teams.
His addiction for the team was infectious, so much so his daughter Cath and her family and friends followed him to see the team regularly.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and our condolences go to his family.
