Update From Holland #2

Since the last website update at the weekend, the under-19 lads have had a very busy last week of their Dutch trip, winning two more matches in the process.

On Saturday, they faced FC Dordrecht for the third and final time, with the hosts determined to win at least one of the encounters. Click here for more info on this match.

Just two days later on Monday, the youngsters notched up another credible win, beating local Amateur side Capelle 3-1. Click here for more info on this match.

Through the week, training sessions were taken by David Winnie’s opposite number, with David taking the Dutch team. This gave the lads valuable knowledge of how Dutch teams treat their playing staff. However, the hosts continue to be well impressed with our systems and training techniques.

On the leisure front, the squad visited Amsterdam, which included a tour of the impressive Amsterdam Arena (home of Ajax FC) which left the boys gobsmacked we are reliable informed. Visits to a theme park and the outdoor swimming pool were also on the agenda.

The Dordrecht physio will be checking on Ally Martin to assess his situation (following his injury in the Capelle match) along with a few others before their final game on Friday against top Youth side FC Utrecht. Details on this match will follow at the weekend.

The party will then fly home on Saturday.

The party would like to take this opportunity to offer a big thanks to Michel de Man for his magnificent and smooth running of events, which David and the lads say has been “totally different class.”
