17-year-old Charlie Clark looks set to make his league debut on Saturday at Broadwood in the opening match of the campaign against Ayr United.
Clark made an unexpected appearance at Recreation Park on Saturday, after Bryn Halliwell was dismissed for head-butting Gareth Evans, and made one fine save to help ensure The Bully Wee won the match.
Halliwell is suspended for at least one match (confirmation to follow as soon as we have it) and Allan Morrison is still suffering from the effects of a back injury.
Alan Kernaghan said today:-
“The sending off has left us in a lurch, and it looks like Charlie is going to start on Saturday. It’ll be a big match from him but we have confidence in his ability and he has the right temperament for this situation. He won’t let it phase him.”
“Allan is struggling so we will have to try and get him through the week, but if he isn’t fit in time to sit on the bench we may have to bring in a trialist as cover.”
