A terrific late strike by John Fraser ensured that The Bully Wee go through to Round 2 of the Bell’s Challenge Cup, but the match was marred by a disappointing dismissal of Bryn Halliwell.

Halliwell appeared to head-butt Alloa’s Gareth Evans, leaving Hugh Dallas no option but to show him the red card and force under-19 keeper Charlie Clark (filling in for the injured Allan Morrison) to make a premature debut.
