Season’S Preview #1

Has the world gone mad? – Clyde are being tipped as serious title contenders by media, bookmakers and even opposition fans!

Such predictions are of course based on our performances last season, a term that was encouraging and enjoyable for both players and supporters alike, but one which was ultimately unsuccessful. This “failure” is still very fresh in the minds of our squad and management team and will be used as a catalyst for achieving this season’s goal to go one step further.

We are fortunate to have a manager who has much experience of top-level football, and his desire to emulate these achievements as a boss is always clearly evident. This allied to the fact that his players want so badly to reach the same heights means we are in a positive state.

The players are aware that we will carry the extra weight of expectation this season but are prepared and willing to do so. All they ask from our loyal fans is the same passionate support and sometimes a little extra patience as we all contend with the ups and downs the season will undoubtedly bring.

More specifically, although we have been relatively quiet on the transfer front, the acquisition of Ian Harty will certainly bear fruit in the form of goals – while an injury free Marco McLaughlin will prove himself to be as good a left sided defender as any.

We are all excited and keen for the season to begin and look forward to seeing as many Bully Wee fans as possible backing our drive for success.
