Goal Of The Season 2002/03

Here are the details for registering your vote for the Official Goal of the Season 2002/03 award, now in its second year. Jamie Mitchell won last season’s inaugural award following an incredibly tight vote, and a close contest is expected again this year. Thanks in advance for your support of this enjoyable end of season feature…

The shortlist of six goals for voting has been decided as follows…

1. Pat Keogh
v St.Mirren (h), Saturday 24th August, League
From the edge of the box, Pat turned and put his shot into the top corner of the net to leave the Saints keeper helpless and square the match.

2. Andy Millen
v St.Mirren (a), Saturday 9th November, League
With Clyde trailing and struggling to get into the match, the ball broke to Andy just outside the box and he fired a first time shot into the top corner of the net in front of the traveling support.

3. Jack Ross
v St.Mirren (a), Saturday 9th November, League
Jack received the ball just over the halfway line, drove forward and powered a shot into the far corner from a wide angle.

4. John Fraser
v St.Johnstone (a), Saturday 18th January, League
A brilliant team move involving Simon Mensing and David Hagen resulted in Willie Falconer heading the ball down for the advancing Fraser to slot home expertly.

5. David Hagen
v Arbroath (a), Saturday 8th February, League
David latched onto a fine through ball by Andy Millen, held off his marker, and drilled the ball high into the net to seal a vital away win.

6. Stephen McConalogue
v Ayr (a), Saturday 3rd May, League
Stephen, just outside the box and the only Clyde player forward, pulled down a high ball brilliantly and curled a great shot into the top corner of the net.

Other goals of note were Simon Mensing’s brave diving header at McDiarmid Park, Alan Kernaghan’s header at Love Street in the 2-1 victory, John Fraser’s powerful shot into the bottom corner at Arbroath in August and Stephen McConalogue’s cool completion of a good team move at Ayr on Saturday.
