Interesting Statistic

Following John Potter’s goal yesterday, Clyde now have the most players in Scottish football (14) to have scored two or more goals during season 2002/03. The players are:-

Pat Keogh, Leigh Hinds, Andy Millen, Colin Nish, Willie Falconer, Simon Mensing, Stevie Convery, John Fraser, Mark Gilhaney, Stephen McConalogue, Jack Ross, David Hagen, Alan Kernaghan and John Potter.

Second Division pacesetters Raith Rovers have 13 players in the same situation and are Clyde’s closest “contenders” to this unusual throne.

Many have blamed the lack of a prolific striker as the main reason for Clyde’s valiant failure to catch Falkirk this season, and this statistic certainly emphasises the very wide spread of goalscoring input compared to most other clubs.

However, the season can still be regarded as an excellent one, so is this trend actually a good thing? Or would you rather rely on fewer players to get more goals? Website Members can VOTE NOW in the new ‘Latest Poll’, and feel free to discuss it on the Message Boards…
