Scottish Cup 3Rd Round Draw
In a historic Tennants Scottish Cup draw, Clyde have been drawn away to Gretna in what will be the first ever meeting of the teams. A trip to Raydale Park is one that the Clyde support will look forward to, although it won’t be easy. Alan Kernaghan talked to the website tonight:-
“It’s not a great draw, but not bad either. It’s a chance for us to progress. I don’t know much about Gretna, and haven’t seen them play this season, so I’ll need to watch them before the match.”
“We’ll give them the respect they deserve but we don’t need to be worried just because it is away from home. A trip to the Highlands, for instance, would have been much worse but St.Mirren have got the ideal draw.”
Club Captain Jack Ross added:-
“I’d rather have had Rangers or Celtic because I feel the squad is better equipped now, than in the past, to deal with those games – I don’t think we’d be overrun. If you don’t get a tie with an SPL club the next best outcome is a tie with a club who you’d hope to progress against. Gretna will be a good day out for the fans and a new experience for everyone.”
