Clyde Xi V Clyde Supporters

The annual Clyde v Clyde Supporters match, in memory of the late Gordon Russell, has now been finalised to take place on Monday October 7th, with a 7pm kick-off.

The event will raise money for Clyde’s Youth Development Fund, with each supporter participating in the match donating £20. ALL Clyde fans are invited to come down to Broadwood and watch the match – entry will be free but a bucket will be passed round to allow you to contribute to the total money raised.

The Clyde XI will feature players such as Alan Kernaghan, Billy Reid, Stevie Convery, Andy Millen, Bryan Smith, Andy McClay and David Mackinnon, along with some of the exciting under-18 talent.

The Supporters team (managed by Gordon Nisbet) will consist of Clyde die-hards from all sections of the support. In the past the Clyde Supporters AFC has taken on the first team, but the decision was made to change it slightly this year to ensure that the team is made up entirely of Bully Wee fans.

The apparent underdogs will meet for a couple of practice games in the 2 weeks prior to the big game, and are hoping to cause a major upset…

A photographer and hopefully a cameraman will be attending to ensure the game will be remembered by everyone connected. Also, a Man of the Match award will be presented to the Clyde fan voted best player on the day.

Currently 18 players have committed to the game, but there is still space for 3 more additions to the squad. If you are at all interested, please contact Stevie Morton at steveatthegrove@aol.com or on 07773241933 as soon as possible.

I’m sure you’ll agree that this will be an excellent and valuable event and your support would be greatly appreciated. Look out for more details nearer the time.
