Qos 2 Clyde 1 – Final Score At Palmerston
Clyde’s debutant ‘keeper Dave McEwan was left helpless after just twelve minutes when ex-Dundee United striker Sean O’Connor’s mis-hit goal attempt trickled past him and was inadvertently hit into the net by John Potter.
It was the early breakthrough by the home team that Clyde had been hoping to thwart but the deficit remained the same for the next hour. It then became two in the 72nd minute when Queen’s Eric Paton let fly from the edge of the box and his well-hit drive hit the roof of the Clyde net.
Andy Millen pulled one back in the 83rd minute and this signalled a period of sustained pressure by Clyde to rescue at least one point. The visitors’ late efforts brought no further rewards and Clyde’s fears about this difficult opening fixture were realised.
