Mixed Fortunes For Clyde Youngsters

Clyde’s under-18 side played two friendlies against difficult opposition over the weekend – with mixed results.

On Saturday, a strong Kilwinning Rangers team beat the youngsters 4-1. Midfielder Neil Scally, on trial having left Ayr, continued his fight for fitness and a permanent deal by featuring in the match. The full line-up is currently unknown.

Last night, at the Science Park in Maryhill, Billy Reid’s men beat Tranmere Rovers under-18s 1-0. Alan Kernaghan, Leigh Hinds and Pat Keogh were amongst those that were watching the match, which was played over three periods of 30 minutes. Clyde dominated proceedings for most of the game, and had some nice passing movements going forward. As the game went on, it became more physical with some fierce tackles going in on either side but thankfully no bad injuries were sustained. A Grant Chisholm goal in the second period was enough to secure the win for The Bully Wee. At least four players eligible for the under-16s played so all in all it was an excellent victory. For the record the team was:-

Charlie Clark, Shaun McGuire, Robert Halliday, Brian Imrie, Grant Chisholm, Graeme McCracken, Craig Murphy, Billy Reid, John Baird, Chris Zok, Alistair Martin.
