Chairman’S Comment

I have been happy to praise our supporters in the past for their encouragement of the team but I feel I have to record my disappointment at the treatment of the players and management towards the end of our match at Arbroath.

For those supporters, and I do realise it is a minority, who feel that abuse will somehow improve the team’s performance or the result, I would make the following points:

1. Every supporter feels frustrated when a match is dominated but not won, but players react badly to abuse from their own support.

2. Saturday’s team was severely depleted by injuries with at least four first choice players unavailable.

3. But for an outstanding display by the Arbroath goalkeeper the game would have been over by half time as was acknowledged by the Arbroath manager.

As I have said before the commitment of most Clyde supporters is second to none and this is greatly appreciated but if the club is to progress, the team needs positive backing from every Clyde fan.
