110 Kids Say Summer Soccer Is A Success
Clyde F.C.’s five-day Summer Children’s Football Courses kicked off on Monday 22 July and 110 kids are enjoying themselves for an hour and a half each day – easily the highest number of kids the event has ever attracted.
These courses cost just £22.00 for the whole week and the children receive coaching from S.F.A. qualified coaches. The coaches give them sessions on ball control, dribbling, heading, shooting and small-sided games but at all times the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment.
With Clyde’s future development in mind, any child who shows potential is ask to come in to training/coaching with the Under 9,10,11,12 teams.
At the end of each course the children receive a small gift which is either a ball, goalie gloves or shin pads. In the course just ended they also received a stand ticket for the St. Mirren or Ayr United game. The Clyde players made a visit to the astro turf park on the Wednesday and stayed for 25 minutes, happily signing autographs and having their pictures taken with the star-struck kids (which of course is a big thing when you are a child).
On the Friday of each course the kids receive a tour of the stadium including the dressing rooms and dugouts where they again can have their photos taken. Hopefully these are the Clyde fans of the future.
On behalf of the Club I would like to publicly thank Burger King Drive-thru in Cumbernauld for sponsoring Clyde F.C. Soccer and for providing training bibs and free children’s meals for all participants. The next course is on the 12th August from 10.30am until 12.00 noon for five days and so far we have registered 75 kids.
If you are interested in your child attending the next Clyde course please phone the Stadium (01236 451511) and a form will be sent out. Alternatively you can pick one up from Reception.
