Owen Coyle Signs For Falkirk
Striker Owen Coyle yesterday ended speculation that he would be coming to Broadwood by following Ian McCall to Falkirk and signing a two-year deal as a Player-Coach at Brockville.
Veteran striker Coyle was named as last season’s First Division Player of the Season and his goals played a big part of Airdrie’s promotion bid.
The 35 year old rejected Clyde’s offer, and offers from a host of other clubs reported to include SPL new boys Partick Thistle, St.Mirren, St.Johnstone, newly-promoted Queen of the South, the new Airdrie consortium and League of Ireland outfit Drogheda United.
Coyle admitted he had been surprised that so many clubs had been keen to sign him.
“Falkirk were able to offer me a concrete offer which will enable me to keep playing for another two years, but I was flattered to have so many offers.”
