Jamie Mitchell Signs For Thistle

As expected, Jamie Mitchell has signed for Partick Thistle on a free transfer. The lure of SPL football was too big for Jamie – he openly stated that this was his only reason for rejecting Clyde’s offer.

Jamie joined Clyde at the tail end of the 98/99 season, after a family bereavement and a fall out with his boss at Scarborough brought him back to Scotland to be nearer his home. Jamie gradually became a fans’ favourite at Broadwood, and his tenacious runs were always liable to pull Clyde up the park especially away from home.

He took both the Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards for last season, and also the Player of the Year award for the 00/01 season. Ironically, he left Clyde having made 100 appearances, and during that time he scored 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Alan Kernaghan and the management team are away on holiday for a week so it may be a quiet spell for news on the playing front.
