Double Award-Winner Jamie
At last night’s Player of the Year Dance departing midfielder Jamie Mitchell won both the Clyde FC Player of the Year and the Goal of the Season awards. On the night Jamie wouldn’t confirm or deny which club he was joining but he was keen to stress that his ambition to play in the SPL was the only reason he is leaving Clyde.
Jamie took the Player of the Year award for the second year running, and said that it was “unexpected”. Over 300 people voted and Jamie got almost one third of the votes cast. Runner-up was Pat Keogh and Simon Mensing was third.
240 votes were received for the Goal of the Season award, 82 on the website and 158 from the fans and team bus at Arbroath. The results were as follows:-
1. Jamie Mitchell (60 votes)
2. David Hagen (57)
3. John Fraser (55)
4. Pat Keogh ( v Arbroath, 37)
5. Pat Keogh ( v St. Mirren, 20)
6. Jack Ross (11)
The other winner on the night was Mr. J Weir who won a Clyde hospitality package for next season, drawn by Jamie Mitchell.
It was another successful end-of- season awards’ night with a decent turn out from the players. Manager Alan Kernaghan was also there and gave a short speech and there also a speech from John Watson who received a special award for his long service to the Club.
