Recap
Darvel recorded a 3-1 victory over The Bully Wee in a friendly match played under the floodlights at Recreation Park last night.
Danny Lennon used the match to give game time to players on the fringes of the starting XI in recent weeks, with only Jordan Allan retaining his place from Saturday’s match against Montrose.
It was Allan who opened the scoring for Clyde after eight minutes when he was on the receiving end of Ross Lyon’s square ball into the box. The home ‘keeper saved his initial effort but the striker netted from the rebound.
The West of Scotland Premier Division leaders then turned the game on it’s head midway through the opening half with two goals in as many minutes through Craig Truesdale and Lewis Morrison.
The Bully Wee had the better of the second half but couldn’t turn some good chances into goals. Euan Cameron ghosted in at the back post from a corner but couldn’t find the target with a free header, Andy Rodden had a shot blocked on the line and Erik Sula’s header whistled just past the post.
The home side sealed the victory with eight minutes remaining, after Craig Moore beat Neil Parry from the penalty spot.
