Clydebank 2-0 Clyde

Sat, 27th Nov 2021 7:15pm

The Bully Wee exited the Scottish Cup at the third round stage after a bitterly disappointing performance and result in Clydebank today.

Danny Lennon made two changes to the side that picked up a victory over East Fife last week, with Jonathan Page and Kevin Nicoll coming in to replace Scott Rumsby and Paul Kennedy.

The first half was a fairly tame affair with neither side creating many chances. Ross Cunningham came close after beating a couple of defenders out wide before cutting in and hitting a shot from distance that went just past the post.

The hosts broke the deadlock a minute before the interval. Clyde failed to clear a free-kick into the box and the ball fell to Jamie Darroch, who rifled a shot into the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Nicky Little came close to doubling The Bankies' advantage on the hour mark when he saw his curling shot from the edge of the box go narrowly wide, but he found the back of the net four minutes later, powering a header from a free-kick beyond Neil Parry.

Cunningham had another chance to bring Clyde back into the game shortly after, but sent his shot inside the penalty area wide.

The Bully Wee were unable to create any further openings in the remainder of the match and Clydebank could have added to their lead, with Jonathan Page having to divert a shot over the bar, and Matt Niven hooking over from close range in the closing stages.
