PREVIEW: Airdrieonians v Clyde

Fri, 1st Oct 2021 10:06pm

Clyde are on the road again this week in cinch League 1, as we make the short trip through to face Airdrie at The Penny Cars Stadium.

Both sides find themselves sitting on 11 points in what is an incredibly tight league, with The Diamonds sitting a place above Clyde on goal difference.

Danny Lennon is close to having a full complement of players to choose from, as both Ally Love and Johnathan Page returned to training this week.

”It’s maybe a bit too early to include them in the matchday squad, definitely too early for Johnathan.” Danny Lennon commented. “Ally Love has come back this week and is buzzing, as you’d expect after around 6 weeks out but we have to be very careful.

”It’s great to have them both back out there with their bubbly characters that they have, but we have to keep an eye on them to make sure we don’t throw them in too quickly.

Ahead of the cinch League 1 clash with Airdrie, the Clyde manager continued :-

“Airdrie present a very difficult challenge every time we play. We know how difficult a place it is to go. They’ve had a big turnover of players as well this season and are playing a slightly different style of football.

”We know how difficult it’ll be, but we’ll need to bring our strengths. We’ve been working on a few things in training and we continue to put demands on the group. At this moment in time, everyone is doing their jobs well but there is always room for improvement.

“I was particularly pleased with the clean sheet last week, as that gives you the opportunity to go and win games but improvement is always what we aim to strive for.”
