Danny Looks Ahead to New Season

Danny Lennon spoke to the official website last night ahead of the NL Broadwood Cup this weekend, which will see supporters return to the stadium for the first time in sixteen months:-

“The thing I am looking forward to most is being able to play in front of our beloved supporters again. They add so much excitement and realism to the game and they’ve been sorely missed. Even though the numbers will still be restricted at this point in time, we’re certainly heading in the right direction. It’ll be a great occasion at the weekend and beyond as we all come together again as the Clyde Family.”

Danny went on to comment on pre-season so far and the new additions to his side:-

“We’re very much looking forward to getting back into things. We’re well underway with our preparations now and the squad is starting to take shape, albeit in a different direction to previous years. There’s a lot of new faces in the dressing room and that takes a bit of time to gel, but we have a combination of good experience and some young legs in there too, which should go well together.

“We’ve added a bit more competition in the forward areas which can only benefit all involved. There is healthy competition there and all players will be encouraging and supporting one another to bring out the best in themselves.

“There has been a big turnaround in numbers but the change is something that’s necessary. That’s no disrespect to the players no longer here, they’ve certainly served the club well and we wish them all the best going forward. Our new additions bring a freshness and enthusiasm to things and I’m enjoying working with this group. We’re still weighing up one or two potential signings and if we feel they are the right player for us with the right attributes we may look to do something.”

Bully Wee fans who tuned into Tuesday’s friendly against Raith Rovers would have noticed a familiar face in Gregory Tadé appearing as a trialist and the Clyde manager spoke about his situation:-

“Gregory is a lovely lad and it’s been great just to have him around the place, he’s got such an infectious personality and is always pleasant and upbeat. He’s in great shape and definitely has something to offer. He’s had an injury which has now been rectified with surgery so we’ll see how he holds up before making any decision.”

Danny concluded with his thoughts and ambitions for the season ahead:-

“I’m always a believer that If you go and bake a cake with the same ingredients you’ll get the same result. We’ve tried to change the ingredients this year so what cake we get might be a surprise.

“We certainly have ambition in terms of where we want to be. When we play we’re very good but we just need to add that consistency to our game and I believe that’s what the experience will bring us. It’ll be vital when games are hanging in the balance and we need to get over that finishing line. That’s the kind of thing over the course of last year and the season before that let us down.”
