The club is pleased to announce the signing of Bulgarian under-21 international defender Alex Petkov on loan from Heart of Midlothian.

The 20-year-old has joined Clyde until the 6th January 2020, following completion of the deal this afternoon.

Petkov signed for Hearts in 2016 as a teenager, from Cherno More in his home country. He made his debut for the Edinburgh club in a Betfred Cup game against East Fife in 2017. Last season, Alex was named as Reserve Team Player of the Year, also being rewarded with a place in the Scottish Cup Final squad in May.

Alex recently took part in an under-21 friendly tournament in Ukraine.

Speaking to the official website, Danny Lennon said:-

"We are delighted to have finalised the loan deal for Alex. He has great technical ability in all areas of the game - required of a modern centre half - as well as composure, the ability to read the game intelligently and a strong physical presence. He will bring competition in both the centre half and defensive midfield areas.

"We are grateful to Hearts for their trust. We believe that we can help the player in his development and journey, whilst at the same time adding to the quality we have in our squad."
