Danny Prepares for Pre-Season

Tue, 11th Jun 2019 5:50pm

Danny Lennon spoke to the official website today, for an update on the progress being made ahead of the new 2019-20 season.

The Clyde manager started by reporting that a short turnaround period will end on Saturday, as pre-season training begins:-

"Just four weeks after winning promotion, our players and coaching staff will return for pre-season this weekend.

"It has already been a busy time for myself, my staff and the board since the last ball was kicked against Annan. I am delighted with the sixteen players we have already signed up for the new season. They are talented, capable and hungry for success."

The sixteen players already committed to the club for the new campaign are; Barry Cuddihy, Kieran Duffie, Declan Fitzpatrick, David Goodwillie, Ray Grant, Chris Johnston, Mark Lamont, Ally Love, Ross Lyon, Martin McNiff, David Mitchell, John Rankin, Scott Rumsby, Darren Smith, Kristoffer Syvertsen and Tony Wallace.

Danny continued by confirming that the player recruitment process was still ongoing:-

"There is still work to be done on completing the squad. We have two offers still on the table to players from last season's squad. We have players who we have invited in to train with us this summer, with a view to potentially signing them.

"We have also been doing our homework and had dialogue with key people on acquiring some exciting loan signings, from esteemed full-time clubs."

To conclude, Danny again emphasised his ambition for the season ahead and his desire for the club's progression to continue:-

"Last season was successful for us in many respects, with the most important objective being achieved in moving up into the third tier of Scottish football. Our desire for next season is to keep the positive momentum going at the club. We are not aiming simply to survive, but to thrive in League 1. We are also keen to improve our performances and achievements in the various cup competitions we will be competing in.

"Ambitions such as these are not met by simply paying lip service and having high hopes. They are achieved by hard work, excellent teamwork and everyone performing to the absolute best of their abilities in every aspect of their role."
