Foundation Welcomes Southside School of Football

Tue, 19th Feb 2019 9:20pm

In recent weeks, the club's Community Foundation team has been working closely with the Southside School of Football to complete its transfer into the Foundation structure.

Volunteers, coaches and team helpers from the Southside paid a visit to Broadwood recently to continue that process, with the completion of all PVGs under the Community Foundation banner.

The guests were welcomed by Tom Elliott, Community Development Manager who delivered a presentation on the growth of the Community Foundation to date. Danny Lennon and Norrie Innes also both spoke of the great work that is being delivered by the Foundation and the benefits to all of the Southside becoming an official part of the organisation.

The next step is the transfer of teams and paperwork, with the target of being ready to commence from May 2019.

Ross Martin, chairman of the Southside School of Football said: "We are delighted to have finally joined the Clyde FC Community Foundation. It offers up many exciting opportunities for both our players’ and coaches’ development, and participating in the official Clyde 'set up' is something we find hugely exciting.

"It's a merger which, in my opinion, is long overdue and continues to give the club a presence in Glasgow; where it all began for the Bully Wee in 1877!"

Norrie added: "It is essential we see that the programme is developing youths with the requisite skill sets for life through the structure and expertise in place. The Foundation’s footballing programme will, in time, connect with the club’s Project Braver and to a natural progression pathway into the Clyde first team.

"The Board, staff and players are all committed to making this work for the School and all its players and coaches. In turn, they will do everything possible to satisfy parents that their kids will be developing - in footballing and human terms - within a positive, safe and secure environment that is fun!"
