PREVIEW: Clyde v Albion Rovers

Fri, 15th Feb 2019 7:01pm

Clyde's Ladbrokes League 2 campaign continues tomorrow, as Albion Rovers make the short journey to Broadwood.

It's the third meeting of the clubs so far this season, with The Bully Wee taking maximum points so far.

David Goodwillie continues to be ruled out due to a broken arm. New loan signing Scott Banks is eligible for selection and Declan Fitzpatrick is another new name that could be included in the squad.

Fitzpatrick officially joined Clyde in October on amateur terms, but immediately joined Clydebank on loan. The 23-year-old midfielder earlier spent time with several Scottish clubs as a youngster before moving to the United States, where he most recently featured for Tulsa Athletics, before returning to Scotland last year.

Declan was recalled from his loan with The Bankies this week, as Danny Lennon explained:-

"Declan has been in and around the group for a few months, training with us and playing in bounce matches, while he was out on loan at Clydebank. We felt it was the right time to bring him back, although it was a difficult decision as he's been doing really well for Clydebank and they have some big games coming up. He's a great lad and deserves the opportunity to test himself at the highest possible level."

Continuing on tomorrow's match, Danny said:-

"For me, Albion have definitely improved, although they are still trying to turn that into results. We saw that with their narrow defeat at Stirling Albion on Tuesday. They are desperate to climb up the league and that makes them dangerous opponents.

"I love this time of year when all of the teams are playing for different things. We've been on a terrific run of form over the last three months and found the consistency that we didn't always have in the earlier part of the season. The players have done fantastically well to close down the gap to the leaders.

"Last week at Annan, we certainly worked hard enough, but we didn't do enough on the ball to deserve to win the game overall. The players know that they need to being all of their qualities to every game and every training session to be successful. They really did that on Tuesday and Thursday night and I'm looking forward to seeing the same tomorrow."
