PREVIEW: Clyde v Queen's Park

Fri, 28th Dec 2018 1:15pm

The final match of the calendar year takes place at Broadwood tomorrow, with Clyde hosting Queen's Park in Ladbrokes League 2.

It's the second meeting of the Glasgow rivals so far this season, following a single-goal win for The Spiders at Hampden in October. Mark Roberts' side are currently in seventh place in the table and looking to close the gap to the play-off zone.

For The Bully Wee tomorrow, Kevin Nicoll and Kristoffer Syvertsen return to the squad following suspension and injury respectively. Martin McNiff, however, is still ruled out as he continues his rehab from an ankle injury.

Speaking to the official website today, Danny Lennon said:-

"It's great to have Kevin and Kristoffer back available and it's also good that Jordan Stewart got 80 minutes under his belt at Albion Rovers. We're coming into a period when we'll need a real squad effort and there will be opportunities for everyone."

On the team's recent form and the match tomorrow, the Clyde boss continued:-

"I've been happy generally with the level of performance in recent weeks, although at home that hasn't always been with the result we wanted. Our concentration levels need to be really high at Broadwood - we know teams will try to frustrate us so we need to be alert at both ends of the pitch and also make sure that we stick to our own game plan.

"The players have enjoyed spending time with their family and friends this week, but we've still had two good training sessions and there was a real focus on the game and what we need to do, so that was really pleasing.

"In our last match against Queen's Park at Hampden, we simply didn't turn up. I think we've come a long way since then though and there's been a big change in the mentality of the group.

"As we approach the end of the year, we're in a decent place but not ideally where we want to be. The top two clubs have done terrifically well and we've got a lot of hard work ahead to keep up the pressure on them. Our supporters have been immense - again at Albion Rovers last week - and I'm sure they are looking forward to the derby occasion tomorrow."
