Ally Hill

Fri, 21st Dec 2018 9:35am

All at the club were saddened to hear of the passing of Ally Hill on Tuesday, age 84.

Ally played around 90 games for Clyde in the early fifties, scoring 27 goals. He appeared in both the first game and the replay of the 1955 Scottish Cup Final as Clyde beat Celtic 1-0, after a 1-1 draw.

Indeed, Ally 'scored' with what looked like a good header in the first half of the first match, but it was disallowed.

During his time with the Bully Wee, Ally also played for Scotland Under-23s against their English counterparts at Shawfield; Scotland's very first international at that level.

The club's thoughts are with Ally's family at this sad time. His son, Alan, contacted the club this week and spoke of his great pride in his father's football career and the Scottish Cup medal that he now holds and cherishes.

A full tribute to Ally will be published in the Clyde View in the 26th January (v Cowdenbeath) edition.
