Clyde 1-0 Elgin City

The Bully Wee kept up their impressive home form with a win over Elgin City this evening, as they recorded their fourth consecutive victory at Broadwood.

Danny Lennon kept the same starting XI from Saturday's victory at Ochilview, though Kevin Nicoll returned from injury to take a place on the bench.

Clyde started the game brightly and had two good chances in the opening stages. Chris McStay saw his header from a Ray Grant cross saved, and then Mark Lamont blasted a shot over the bar after a cut back from David Goodwillie.

At the other end of the park Blair Currie was kept on his toes and produced a good stop from a Thomas Reilly effort.

Former Clyde man Jon Paul McGovern then curled a free-kick on target, and Currie pulled off another save, getting down low to turn the ball behind for a corner.

Lamont tried his luck again just before the interval and this time came closer, but his dipping effort from outside the box went just over the bar.

Martin McNiff then made an important block from a goal bound Chris McLeish shot, and moments later Goodwillie almost broke the deadlock when he fizzed an effort just past the post.

The game's decisive moment came on the hour mark. McStay floated a free-kick into the box, and it was met by Goodwillie, who powered a header past Long.

McStay almost doubled the lead but Long got the slightest of fingertips to his shot across the face of goal.

The Bully Wee saw out the closing stages in an assured and professional manner, to register their seventh win in the last nine games.
