Danny Looks Forward to Action Returning

Mon, 18th Dec 2017 8:07pm

Clyde manager Danny Lennon spoke to the official website today, for a short update following a two-week break from competitive action due to the weather.

The away matches at Peterhead and Cowdenbeath were both postponed over the last two weekends, but the squad has been kept active, including on Saturday as Danny explained:-

"We were pro-active in getting facilities booked for Saturday so we had a training session in the morning. We were also looking at having a bounce match, but unfortunately the team we were going to play had their league match go ahead, so that didn't happen. The boys handled it well though and they got a good run out.

"To be honest, the first week off wasn't totally a bad thing as a few of the boys had a virus, so that gave them a chance to get over that.

"I'm delighted that the weather is now warming up and we can look forward to Saturday. It was a bit frustrating that we couldn't continue to build on the performances we had, but we still go into Saturday's match with the momentum of being unbeaten in four.

"The draw against Montrose, the league leaders, gave us back-to-back clean sheets and that shows how hard the boys are working to ensure that, first and foremost, we improve defensively and are difficult to beat. The response to what myself and Allan are asking them to do has been outstanding."

The Clyde boss revealed that Allan Moore will be missing from the dugout for the next three matches, as he enjoys a family holiday in Australia that was booked before he accepted the assistant manager role with The Bully Wee last month.

Matt Flynn, currently sidelined by injury as he waits for an operation, will take on some extra responsibility during the period. Danny continued:-

"I'm delighted to have Allan as my assistant, he brings a lot of experience in management and he's a talented coach. We've both really enjoyed getting to know the players so far.

"Matt has been fantastic and he will give me a bit of a hand while Allan is away, with things like warm-ups and pre-match preparation. It keeps him involved in what is a challenging time for him. His willingness to still be part of what we're doing is exactly the type of positive attitude we need at the club to drive it forward."

Danny concluded with a message to supporters:-

"I'm sure the fans have been frustrated to see other clubs picking up points over the last couple of weeks, but we've got to try to do that now and we can make home advantage count on Saturday. I'd encourage the supporters to get behind the boys at every opportunity and also to enjoy the game."
