Clyde United Feature on BBC Radio

Mon, 11th Dec 2017 7:21pm

The Clyde Foundation was delighted last week to be only the fourth football club to be chosen to by the SPFL Trust to feature on BBC Radio Scotland.

On Thursday night, the Clyde United programme for people with mental health issues or addictions was featured as the BBC's popular Sportsound show was broadcast live from Broadwood.

Tom Elliott, Community Development Manager at the Clyde Foundation said:-

"It was absolutely brilliant for us to get the opportunity to let people know about the fantastic programme that is Clyde United. On the night, we had the breaking news about Derek McInnes so I think more people listened to the show than normal, resulting in us reaching out to a wider audience."

The project is a partnership between NHS Lanarkshire and NHSL, Health Improvement, Cumbernauld Community Mental Health Team, Addiction Service, Clyde Foundation and NL Leisure - all working together to make it a success.

Tom continued: "For some of the lads to get the opportunity to be interviewed by Chris McLaughlin of the BBC and tell their own story in their own words on the radio was something they will remember for a long time. The group absolutely love coming to Broadwood on a Wednesday and pulling on the Clyde jersey, with the added bonus of playing on the main pitch every week."
