PREVIEW: Clyde v East Fife

Fri, 17th Nov 2017 4:52pm

Clyde will host East Fife at Broadwood tomorrow in the Third Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The Fifers are going well in League 1, currently sitting in fifth position, with a slot in the potentially lucrative Fourth Round draw on offer to both clubs.

The match will also see The Bully Wee's new management team of Danny Lennon and Allan Moore take charge in the dugout for the first time.

For Clyde, Matt Flynn continues to be ruled out and on loan players Andy Munro and PJ Morrison are also unavailable for selection in the competition. Scott Ferguson is making good progress in recovering from a hamstring problem, but the match is likely to come too soon for him to take part.

Speaking to the official website this afternoon, Danny spoke about the appointment of his assistant, his first week working with the players and tomorrow's match:-

"I am delighted that Allan has joined us as assistant manager. He has knowledge and success in getting clubs promoted and his enthusiasm for the game is infectious.

"I have spent my time so far trying to ascertain the strengths of each player at my disposal. There are good players at the club who are capable of better form than they have shown so far this season. It is my job to help them find that form and let their strengths shine every time they pull on that Clyde jersey. I believe that, with a few little changes to how we go about things in every aspect of our football, we will get the results and performances that our quality is capable of achieving.

"The performance last week was one prime example of what the players are capable of. The attitude and application were first class from start to finish and the reward was taking a point from the team at the top of the table. We must now bring that level of performance, or better, in each and every one of our remaining fixtures this season to earn the right to progress in the cup and move up the league. I firmly believe we can achieve that together.

"Tomorrow we welcome Darren Young and his East Fife team to Broadwood to compete for an opportunity to progress through to the next round of one of the oldest cup competititions in football. They are playing in a higher league than us, but that gives us an opportunity to test ourselves and fuel our aspirations for the rest of the season. Cup games are all about playing to win and that is what our focus and aim is for tomorrow.

"With supporters help, we can make home advantage count. I'd ask them to please get right behind the team, encourage the boys at every opportunity and enjoy the game."
