PREVIEW: Montrose v Clyde

Fri, 5th May 2017 9:39am

Clyde will travel to Montrose tomorrow, for the final regular match of the 2016-17 Ladbrokes League 2 season.

The fixture is hugely significant for both clubs, with The Gable Endies looking for a win to secure a promotion play-off slot and The Bully Wee needing a point to avoid the potential of finishing in the relegation play-off position.

Although there are some ongoing injury complaints in the Clyde ranks, joint interim manager JP McGovern was hoping that an unchanged squad would travel to Links Park when he spoke to the official website:-

"We are carrying a few knocks, but the boys know how important the game is and a few have declared themselves fit which is commendable."

On the match and what is at stake, McGovern continued:-

"We know what we need to do; we need to go and try to win the game. I don't think we can go there with a siege mentality and invite a form team to come and attack us. We want to stamp our authority on the game and I think we are a good enough team to do that.

"There's no doubt about how big the game is, but we've got to approach it how we normally would. We know that they are a good side, but it's got to be about us and what we do.

"It's in our hands and the bottom line is that we have to get the job done. It's been a disappointing season, we all know that, but the focus is on tomorrow and winning the game."
