Club Statement – Chairman Appointed

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Norrie Innes to the post of Chairman of Clyde FC.

A Chartered Engineer by profession, Norrie is also a former Clyde player, having been with the club in the early eighties, under the management of Craig Brown.

Norrie has recently spent seven years living and working in Catalonia and has absorbed many things from his spell in North East Spain combining his professional business interests with his passion for football. Norrie is a registered FIFA agent, holds the SFA Coaching C Licence and at the age of 43 played in the Catalan Regional League.

His personal profile also carries the statement “a desire to be Challenged and to Deliver”, and he has recently been assisting the club behind the scenes with its location strategy.

He will assume a key role in this project going forward, and will formally take the Chair with effect from May 2017 once current business projects are managerially restructured.

Norrie’s impressive list of business interests and achievements include the design management and construction of major regeneration and public realm projects throughout the UK, mixed use property development and social enterprise initiatives. The most notable projects being:-

  • Homes for the Future
  • Barras Calton Regeneration
  • Merchant City Regeneration
  • Warrington Town Centre
  • Heart of the City Sheffield

The family connection with The Bully Wee began when Norrie’s father, Norrie snr, also played for Clyde in the Fifties, arguably the most successful decade in the club’s history. Norrie snr was a club guest at the opening game at Broadwood back in February 1994 and still takes a keen interest in the club’s fortunes.

Speaking to the official website Norrie admitted, “Clyde FC has a very special place in our family. It is a club with great history and traditions, good people and a unique fan-base. The club is seeking to root itself within its natural local and footballing community, to allow it to truly develop all things good within a socially responsible sporting club. The impediments of uncertainty and disruption must be removed from the normal dynamic of the club. The Board have just appointed two young aspiring coaches who, in their own very different ways, have a real desire to learn and improve, taking Clyde to a better place.

“The club should not limit its ambitions or expectations. It is time to recalibrate and renormalize many things within and around Clyde FC and this change demands the positive input of all the strong and good people at the club, most especially the supporters! My role is one of simply helping to create the conditions for this to happen.”

Clyde Vice Chairman, John Taylor said: “We are delighted with Norrie’s appointment. His business acumen, experience of driving and delivering major development and regeneration projects, along with his first hand knowledge on and off the pitch make him the ideal fit for the club.

“He has been working with the Board behind the scenes over recent months, is key to our location strategy and his passion for the game and club has shone through.”
