Brett Long Joins on Loan
Dundee United goalkeeper Brett Long has joined Clyde on a one-month emergency loan contract.
The Northern Ireland under-19 international, also formerly of Motherwell, will be included in today’s squad to take on Stirling Albion at Forthbank.
Clyde manager, Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website after finalising the move:-
“I’ve seen Brett play and I spoke to various people at Dundee United about him this week. They think highly of him and feel that he is more than ready to play competitively. We’ve been given really good reports on his mentality and he wants to go out and play first team football, which is always a positive for me. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.
“It gives us some competition in that position, which we haven’t really had so far this season, so it’ll be good for John Gibson as well.”
Barry also confirmed that he was working hard to make further additions to the squad:-
“I’m hopeful of adding one or two more, but it’s dependant on us finding external funding as we just don’t have the budget within the club at the moment.
“There’s no way we’re going to rush back any of the long-term injured players, so we really need to add some competition to the squad for the second half of the season.”
