Scott Achieves Unique Feat

Sun, 3rd May 2015 10:57am

Following yesterday's final match of the 2014-15 season, Scott Durie became one of only a handful of outfield players in recent times to have started in all of the club's competitive fixtures in a full campaign.

The full-back was named in the starting line-up for all 36 League Two matches, two Scottish Cup matches, two Challenge Cup matches and one League Cup tie.

Research by Clyde Archive team members Sean Hart and Gordon Sydney revealed the other men to have achieved the feat in recent decades, namely; Jim Burns (1970-71 and 1971-72), Eddie Anderson (1972-73), Alan Swan (1973-74), Sam Miller (1973-74), Gordon Hamilton (1976-77), Brian Ahern (1977-78 and 1980-81), Tommy McQueen (1981-82), Andy Willock (1984-85), Colin McGlashan (1989-90), Keith Knox (1996-97), John Potter (2004-05) and John Sweeney (2013-14).

Not only did Scott start in every match, he also played in every single minute without being substituted. Although full match records only go back to around 1990, it's certain that this additional accomplishment has been recorded for the first time in at least 25 years - and possibly even longer.

Well done to Scott on a fine effort.
