Euan Gets Off the Mark

Sun, 28th Sep 2014 5:09pm

Clyde midfielder Euan Smith spoke to the media after yesterday's 1-1 draw with Annan Athletic.

The 20-year-old got on the scoresheet with his first goal for The Bully Wee since joining the club on loan from Kilmarnock, however it wasn't his first strike in senior football:-

"I got two goals when I was on loan at Arbroath from Hibs a couple of years ago," he said. "But I've waited a while for another one."

On the match, Euan was asked how the introduction of Barry Ferguson changed the players' mindset:-

"I wouldn't say that the manager playing changed the dynamics too much, everyone was up for the game and looking for the win that we need.

"It's disappointing not to win after going ahead, I thought we were playing well and we created chances. I had one myself with a header and we're just not finishing enough of them at the moment."

The best chance of the second half fell to Scott McManus, following Euan's knock-down and he felt that was a good example of a positive outlook to be taken:-

"I thought we had that one but it just bounced too high for Scott.

"With the way we're playing I'm sure the results will turn, we've been unlucky at times and we've also made some individual mistakes that have cost us games."

Euan's loan agreement means a busy schedule lies ahead for him as he revealed:-

"I'm really enjoying it, there's a good bunch of lads here and it's good to be playing first team football. I'm still training with Kilmarnock during the week and also with Clyde at night."
