PREVIEW: Clyde v Montrose

Mon, 22nd Sep 2014 9:50pm

Clyde manager Barry Ferguson believes tomorrow night's League Two clash with Montrose is just what the squad need after Saturday's disappointing defeat.

The Bully Wee went down 5-2 to league leaders Arbroath at the weekend and Ferguson says the best way to get over that is by getting back out on the pitch.

The manager told the official website: "You want a game straight after a defeat to put it right. The players have nothing to prove to me, I know they can do it but it is a fine line and we just need to cut out the mistakes.

"I would be downhearted if they weren't playing well but they are, it is just a matter of being a bit more clinical and cutting out the mistakes and we’ll get there."

Reflecting on Saturday's match, Ferguson admitted that Brian McQueen's sending off after just 28 minutes made things difficult but he doesn’t feel his team are far from stringing together a run of positive results.

He continued: "When we got a man sent off it was an uphill task from there, we’re getting no luck just now but we just need to keep plugging away. It’s frustrating because certain things are happening during games, like sendings off or silly mistakes, but we will keep working hard and I am sure it will turn.

"We can only do so much and then when the players go on the pitch they have got to take on board what we are trying to tell them. I don’t think we're far away and that is the frustrating thing for me.

"It’s a fine line and the guys in the dressing room are disappointed with how things have panned out in the last couple of weeks. We dominated against East Stirling and on Saturday we were the better team up until half-time, even after we got the man sent off, but then tiredness came into play."

Looking forward to tomorrow night's game, Ferguson concluded: "I am waiting to hear if Brian McQueen is suspended and there are a couple of knocks from Saturday, but everyone should be fine to play. Craig Halkett missed Saturday with a bit of an injury but he should be fine too."

Kick-off is at 7.45pm at Broadwood.
