Clyde manager Jim Duffy spoke exclusively to www.clydefc.co.uk after this afternoon’s defeat against Montrose:-

"Well, it was absolutely shocking if truth be told. At times, I couldn’t believe how poor we were playing. We got away with it in the first half. We did have one or two moments in the first half - Fergie got in behind and Kevin made a couple of great runs and hit the bar with a turn and a shot but over the piece I still didn’t think we played very well.

"We used one word at half-time to the players; 'composure'. We wanted them to try and bring the ball down and make a passes. The chances we created in the first half were through good passing movements on the floor but as soon as the second half started we took centre, played the ball back and kicked the ball up in the air. It was extremely frustrating to say the least. I spent the whole of half-time telling the players to relax, get the ball down and stop kicking it forward by playing kick and rush but they didn’t heed it and after conceding the first goal Montrose got a fair bit of confidence.

"The second goal was a free header, which players are designated to cover but they didn’t do the job and after that Montrose won the game very, very comfortably.

"I thought Montrose dominated all aspects from front to back. Their midfielders ran the show and up front Wood and Deasley gave our back line a torrid time. There was nothing positive to come out of the game and we were comprehensively beaten.

"I think what disappointed me most today was that we didn’t build on last week's terrific performance. Our aim is towards the top of the league. The players should have been buzzing, looking for the ball and up for the challenge of getting another three points on board. However, there was just a huge amount of energy lost today and we weren't at the races."
