Bitter Disappointment for Jim

Sat, 22nd Sep 2012 7:07pm

Following today's three-goal defeat to East Stirling at Ochilview, Clyde manager Jim Duffy spoke to the media. Here are his comments:-

"Disappointment doesn't even come close. Despite being 2-0 down at half-time I thought we had created more chances but we didn't take any of them. They were the type of chances you have got to take but in saying that, we also made two terrible errors for their goals.

"In the second half, I thought we were absolutely diabolical, it's as simple as that. I was expecting a positive response and it was totally the opposite and that sticks in my throat. The only two players I would give pass marks to are Jamie Barclay - who kept us in the game - and the other is young Gary Graham who came on and is only 17. Everyone else, including the subs, didn't contribute and East Stirling could have won by more.

"I don't agree that we've had two bad weeks. In terms of the Queen's Park game, that was an even game. We didn't play creatively in midfield but the work rate and determination was there and I think most people agree we should have got a share of the game. Today was a bad day, both the result and performance, whereas last week the performance wasn't that bad.

"The second half today was abysmal and it gives me a lot of food for thought. I thought there were a lot of players that looked as if they wanted the game to be over ten minutes into the second half rather than rolling the sleeves up and showing a bit of fighting spirit. There was no desire and East Stirling thoroughly deserved the win.

"I'm bitterly disappointed, we were really poor in every area in the second half and that's something I'm going to have to have a long, hard think about before next week."
