PREVIEW: Stranraer v Clyde

Fri, 17th Feb 2012 6:23pm

Bully Wee boss Jim Duffy was looking forward to the trip to Stranraer tomorrow afternoon but was well aware of the task awaiting the Clyde youngsters:

"It’s another tough game at the end of a week that has been physically challenging for the boys but I’m delighted in the level of performances that the squad has given of late."

Victory last weekend and a hard fought point with 10 men on Tuesday night has been an encouraging return to form...

"The players have done well, as ever their commitment and attitude has been spot on but it has been great to see chances being created in the final third; as well as five goals we have also hit the woodwork a number of times and we want to continue that form tomorrow. Stranraer is never an easy venue and in choosing the team we also have to be mindful of each player’s condition. Some of the lads have physically demanding jobs and on top of matches coming thick and fast we have to be watchful about any injuries arising so that maybe a factor in picking our starting eleven.

"I’m delighted to have Paul Hay and Declan Gallagher back in the squad. Declan has been missing for a considerable period of time and it’s great to have him back and ready to compete for a first team place."

One player who has also made an impression recently has been Ryan Kane...

"It’s important for Ryan to continue developing and learning other aspects of his game in addition to his forward play, where his talent has never been in doubt.  Ryan has done well in coming off the sub’s bench and was unlucky not to score against Berwick and we are obviously hoping he continues to be a threat up front.

"We have put a couple of decent performances in against Stranraer already this season and it would be good to do that again and keep this run going."
