PREVIEW: Trialist Added to Squad

Fri, 15th Oct 2010 6:56pm

Stuart Millar spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this afternoon, ahead of the Third Division action recommencing at Arbroath tomorrow.

The trip to Gayfield signals the end of an enforced fortnight break for the team and Clyde's head coach was keen to get back into competitive matches:-

"Tomorrow is an opportunity to kick-start our season. Arbroath, like ourselves, were expected to be in a different position to the one they are in currently with players like Danny Griffen and Gavin Swankie to name but two. They have a good quality of player but they have started slowly. However, come the end of the season I fully expect Paul Sheerin to have guided the team up the league so it will be a tough game at a hard venue.

"We want to pick up that vital win to get the confidence back and give us a boost prior to the Scottish Cup tie against Berwick."

Supporters' Bus Information

The Bully Wee will travel to Gayfield without at least three players but there could be a new introduction, as Stuart explained:-

"Our task hasn't been made easier by the absence of three of the squad. Marc McCusker has had his collarbone reset but remains a few weeks away from returning to first team action. Willie Sawyers has had a recurrence of his knee injury and will be visiting his consultant again while Iain Gray will also miss out due to an ankle injury sustained in Tuesday's reserve match.

"The squad is light and for that reason I've drafted in a trialist for the game. Scott Anson will join the squad and as a Clyde fan he may well be a familiar face to some. Scott started his career with Kilmarnock, winning the Clydesdale Bank Under-19 Player of the Season award in 2008, and also had loan spells with Montrose and Annan."
