Ready to Make his Marc

Marc McCusker spoke exclusively to www.clydefc.co.uk after a deal to bring him back to Broadwood was concluded.

The striker made it clear that the Bully Wee still had a place in his heart following his previous spell with the club:-

“When I heard Clyde were interested in me I was excited about the prospect of coming back and I would have signed earlier if my car hadn’t been in the garage getting fixed!

“I was really keen to come back. I spoke to Stuart Millar and Neil Watt and I was very impressed with what they were saying. I thought I would really enjoy the opportunity to work under them.

“I did have other offers but I got on really well with the people here during my first stint, despite it being a difficult time for the club.”

Marc did admit though, that he was sad to be leaving Cliftonhill:-

“The Albion Rovers fans named me Player of the Year and that was superb. I really enjoyed my football there and leaving them was quite hard but there’s a brilliant setup at Clyde.

“I’m coming back a better player; stronger, fitter and with a bit of experience. I’m really looking forward to getting going.”

A run of bad luck with injuries was one of the factors that kept Marc out of the side during 2008-09, but he was determined that there will be no repeat…

“The injury problems are behind me. I’ve pinpointed my weaknesses and worked on them and I’m looking to move on now. During the last few weeks of the season, Albion were playing two or three games a week and I was fit and available for every one of them.

“I’m looking forward to the new season. I think we’ve got a right good chance of being involved at the top of the table and it’s going to be great playing alongside guys like Willie Sawyers and John Stewart.”
