Cup Date for Youngsters

Sun, 28th Mar 2010 3:51pm

Clyde's 2010 Glasgow Cup campaign gets underway in Cumbernauld this week.

The annual competition is contested at under-17 level between Rangers, Celtic, Partick Thistle, Queen's Park and the Bully Wee.

Clyde's academy team at that age group, led by Eddie Annand and Lee Sharp, will face current holders Rangers in the semi-final on Tuesday night. Having edged past the Spiders 2-1 in the preliminary round, Celtic will take on Partick in the other last four game.

The final is due to take place at Broadwood in May, so there's plenty of incentive for the youngsters to produce a shock result against their Murray Park counterparts.

Former Clyde striker, Annand said:-

"It will be difficult as the Old Firm always start as favourites in these games, but we will be ready to take home advantage and we are really looking forward to the tie.

"It would also be helpful if those fans not travelling to Peterhead on Tuesday night, come along to cheer on the boys."

Match postponed due to snow/rain. Look out for a re-arranged date when it is confirmed.
