Watt On Latvian Deal
Director of Football Neil Watt spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this evening following the latest additions to the squad: “I think the move for Dimitrijs and Aleksandrs demonstrates that we are keen to explore all avenues in order to improve the team. We will try all we can to save our Second Division status and it’s a deal that I’ve been working on for a long time. It is certainly going down a different route and I hope it can give the fans a boost and some added interest.
“We’ve done our homework and were aware of the players; indeed one of the lads was on trial with an SPL club last season and I spoke to that manager before proceeding with the deal. Both Dimitrijs and Aleksandrs have got the ability, now we just have to see how they adapt to life in Scotland and the Second Division. I look forward to seeing them in action.”
The result today may have disappointed First Team Manager John McCormack but he was happy with the signings: “I’m delighted the two boys have joined and I was in full agreement with Neil to explore this option when the opportunity arose. Anything that can give us an added edge will be worthwhile and when the necessary paperwork is obtained they will get their chance.”
