Cowboy Delighted As Stewart Joins Up

Fri, 8th Jan 2010 6:54pm

The club has concluded a deal to bring striker John Stewart to Broadwood.

The 24-year-old former Aberdeen, Falkirk and Ross County man has signed until the end of the season, after recently ending a short-term stint at Peterhead.

As a youngster at Aberdeen, he scored a famous winning goal against Celtic at Parkhead. Another memorable goal came against the Dons in 2008 when, as a loan player at Queen of the South, he scored the winner in the classic Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Clyde boss John McCormack was pleased with the club’s latest recruit: "I’m delighted that John has been added to the squad. I’ve watched him throughout his career, from his time at Aberdeen and Falkirk to his spells at Ross County and Queen of the South.

"I am confident that he will do a good job for us and, importantly, get his share of goals . I’m also pleased as I think it is further evidence that the club is determined to improve and challenge in the second half of the season."

Cowboy concluded, "John has experience and will assist the younger members of the squad. He has good pace and I believe he has the necessary hunger to do well for us. John is certainly aware of what we want to achieve and how we want to do that. His speed, ability to link up play and strength in the air will be important to us as we work to climb up the table."
