Bully Wee Looking to Progress

Fri, 28th Nov 2008 6:34pm

Clyde will host Montrose tomorrow for a Homecoming Scottish Cup Third Round tie for the second year running.

Last season, the Bully Wee were 2-0 winners and a similar result would get the club's name into the hat for Monday's Fourth Round draw.

It will not be easy, however, against the Gable Endies who have enjoyed a very good start to their Third Division campaign and currently sit in second place.

The task is more difficult due to the loss of Neil McGregor, Michael Ohnesorge and Scott Gemmill to injury. However, as reported earlier in the week, Ricky Waddell returns to the squad.

John Brown was certainly aware of the importance and difficulty of the match:-

"It is vital that our approach is right. Montrose are flying high in their division and their confidence is justifiably up. They have a good blend of youth and experience and have responded extremely well to the appointment of David Hannah as caretaker manager.

"So, despite it being a home tie, it is not going to be an easy task and I'm sure former players like Roddy Hunter and Kevin Bradley will have a point to prove as well.

"In the cup it doesn't matter what league you are in, the tournament is a great leveller and I'm sure Montrose will be like us and be determined to go as far as they can. Queen of the South set us all an example of what can be acheived last season."
