Gibson Wins Fitness Battle

Clyde boss John Brown spoke to the official website as he prepared the squad for Saturday’s vital clash with Morton…

“On the player front Stuart Kettlewell is struggling for tomorrow. He is feeling his hamstring so we’ll wait and see how he is in the morning and give him every chance but he is a major doubt. However on the positive side Billy Gibson is fit and available to return to the squad.”

There was also good news about two longer term injuries…

“Willie McLaren is back running but is still a few weeks away yet. On a brighter note Marc McCusker is nearly there. He’ll play tonight for the Under-19s and on Monday for the reserves which, all being well, will put him into contention for next weekend.”

The international weekend gave the players a chance to regroup after two disappointing home games. John continued:-

“Since the last game we’ve just continued to try to get them organised. It was disappointing to lose the two games but we’ve picked them up since. I’m not downhearted about our performances, at times we’ve looked good but it’s been frustrating that we’ve had periods in games when we’ve lost goals that have been very costly.

“Tomorrow is massive and we know if we can get a victory we can go up a place or two. The boys have trained well this week and we are looking forward to it.

“We must have the right attitude. I felt there were a few in the last game that weren’t up for the battle so we are looking for guys with those battling qualities tomorrow.”
