Dundee 1 v 0 Clyde

Sat, 9th Aug 2008 8:03pm

The Clyde supporters that travelled to Dundee this afternoon left Dens Park disappointed with the outcome but satisfied with the performance of the team.

The home side pressed forward for much of the first half, aiming to use their height advantage to good effect and threatening with deliveries into the box.

Alan Trouten came closest for Clyde with a run and low shot that was fisted away by Rab Douglas, but just before half-time The Dees made it 1-0. Antoine-Curier picked up a flick-on and drilled a fine shot past Hutton from 20 yards.

The Bully Wee's second half display should have been enough to earn a well deserved point, but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping prevented it. Gemmill, Clarke (twice) and Kettlewell all had chances to level the scores, but Billy Gibson came closest with a back post header that had the away support on its feet before Douglas blocked it.

Despite losing Willie McLaren and Stuart Kettlewell to injury throughout, and being unable to bring off a clearly suffering Gary McSwegan, there were several good displays and many positives can be taken overall.
