The Spirit to Succeed

Fri, 4th Jul 2008 1:50pm

John Brown was certainly in a positive frame of mind as the intensity of pre-season training continued: "The attitude has been fantastic and it has been an important couple of weeks. At the moment I’m very pleased in the way things have gone. We’re at the training ground from 8.30am and the players don’t leave until 4pm, that in itself is good for bonding and forming a positive team spirit and the trip down south will help that even more.

"It’s important that the players get to know each other and that will stand us in good stead as the season progresses.
"We have a good series of matches and now we know our first opponents with Annan Athletic being elected to the SFL yesterday. I think Annan have everything in place and fully deserved their victory. The Challenge Cup tie on the 26th July at Broadwood will certainly be of added interest now and we wish Annan well for the future."

John concluded, "We are working hard to prepare for our first game against Great Yarmouth on the 12th July. As I’ve said before, the primary purpose for the challenge matches is to get the players fit but I would hope that the fans will see more enthusiasm and a greater work ethic, that was lacking in certain areas from the team last season. If we don’t succeed it certainly won’t be for the lack of fitness, effort or fighting spirit."
